Between 10 and 12 March 2026, Ireland hosted the GO GREEN Hackathon, with venues in Killybegs and Donegal Town. The three-day event became a hub of innovation focused on ocean conservation, where young talents worked together for the future of marine ecosystems.
Participants developed their ideas through intensive work every day from 8:30 in the morning until 18:00. The creativity, dedication and professional attitude of the teams were impressive: innovative prototypes were born that offer real solutions to the challenges of the marine environment.
On the final day, the young people presented their projects to a professional jury. It is a particular point of pride that Hungary was represented at the event by three young people who delivered an outstanding performance. Their participation not only strengthened our country's presence in the international innovation space, but they also brought back valuable experience.
This is particularly important in light of the fact that the next GO GREEN Hackathon will be hosted by the Hungarian partner in June 2026. The experience and best practices gained during the Irish event will greatly contribute to the success of the domestic event, further strengthening the role of young people in environmental protection.
The future generation has already proven: the fate of the oceans is in good hands.
